[OM] Excessively stiff Zuiko focus: What to do about it?

Subject: [OM] Excessively stiff Zuiko focus: What to do about it?

Hi.

I have two Zuiko lenses which focus too stiffly for my taste. I don't
really have the patience to wait until they loosen up over time.

What have other list members done when faced with this problem? If any of
you have sent your lenses in for service, what did it cost to "relax the
helicoid"?

The lenses in question are the 85/2 and the 50/2. Granted, the 50 is a
macro and should be stiff. However, it's also my only 50mm lens, so I
intend to use it in an all-purpose capacity. My former macro, the 50/3.5,
was old and worn, and was no longer snug that way at all. I prefer it that
way. The 85, too, should focus more freely if I expect to fine tune the
focus constantly as I track my subject (portaiture) without tiring out my
fingers!

John Hermanson, if you're listening, do you handle such repairs and what do
they cost?

Thanks for reading,

DB
