I?ve got some Breakfree CLP in my gun safe, and it?s great stuff. But I
wouldn?t use it to remove a stuck filter unless I had tried everything else
first. A little bit of this stuff on the front element, or the filter
glass, and who knows what happens to the coating! If a filter is REALLY
stuck, here?s how to get if off:

1. Put rear cap on lens and stand lens on kitchen counter, offending
filter up.
2. Put three or four ice cubes in plastic bag.
3. Set plastic bag containing ice cubes on filter.
4. Wait five minutes. (A beer might help, since you?re by the fridge
anyway.)
5. Unscrew filter. (Another beer is optional.)

DO NOT heat the filter. That expands it, which only makes it tighter. You
want to contract the little sucker. Since the mass of the lens is much
greater than that of the filter, the ice cubes will contract the filter
long before the lens gets cold and tightens up on the it, and it?ll come
right out. Trust me. Simple physics.
