When your flash is attached to the camera and the ready light is on,
does the ready light in the camera illuminate, too? If not, check the
small contacts in the camera's shoe -- be sure they're clean and shiny.
Try to wiggle the shoe, too, to see if it's loose -- sometimes the
screws work loose, causing intermittant ground.

If you're using the Super-FP setting, the flash should fire anytime in
Auto mode, but if you're setting regular Auto mode on the flash, there
must be film in the camera and a lens attached, and then the flash will
only fire if the indicator in the camera's finder is at "60" or lower.
