[OM] OM-2N questions

Well, once again I've searched the archives, FAQs, etc., and still have a couple of questions regarding an OM-2N MD I'm evaluating:

1. Without batteries does the shutter speed default to 1/60 or 1/500?

2. Is this default speed different with the Winder 2 attached?

3. Without batteries the shutter and mirror operate consistently regardless of meter/mode setting and shutter speed setting (except on "B", which operates as expected). But with fresh batteries installed, the shutter operates inconsistently in both metering modes and at all shutter speeds. In particular it seems to "stick" at slower speeds, keeping the shutter open anywhere from several seconds to indefinitely (yes, I understand that in auto mode the shutter is designed to remain open for varying lengths of time depending on ASA setting, light, etc.), despite being tested in bright light. Shifting the meter mode lever to "reset" does not reset the shutter and mirror - only shifting the lever to "off" and advancing the film advance manually will drop the mirror.

Does this indicate a metering problem rather than a mechanical problem?

4. Last symptom (possibly an erroneous observation on my part): with batteries installed the shutter speed ring seems more difficult to turn, while it turns more smoothly without batteries. Perhaps just an indication the camera needs a CLA, but I'm wondering whether there's a linkage or clutch involved that's controlled by the metering system with batteries installed.

Thanks all.
