I once wrecked an A11 flashgun (as used on XA cameras) when I
inadvertantly used a NiCd cell in it. To be fair, Olympus did warn the
user that NiCd would damage the A11 . . . they were right :-O

I am now concerned. I have been using NiCads for over a year in my
A11's and A16 with no "apparent" problems. Are there any warnings or
symptoms of impending failure? I guess I will have to check the manual
when I get home.

Has anyone else had problems using NiCads with the XA Flashes? Is it
due to the high charge rate or over heating the tube from too many
flashes?
