I'll second your sentiments Simon - about Llanfairpg and the coasts of Anglesey.

But you should try some of the German Romantische Strasse towns for despoiling by coachloads of tourists. For instance, Rothenberg is a beautiful walled town with narrow cobbled streets from motorists are, quite rightly, barred. However, the coachloads of tourists are allowed to drive to their hotels in the centre of the place, blocking the cobbled streets and polluting the atmosphere.

It's easy to say that the towns would not be so well-preserved if the tourist trade were not there, but there is surely a better balance.

In penance for my OT contribution, I will try to find my photos of the place and put them on Photopoint.

You, er... no, I won't bother. My parents lived there until recently. It is
an unremarkable village but suffers coachloads of tourists driving down to
see the railway station and the accompanying 'tourist trap' shop. The coast
and beaches of Anglesey are a different story - I have spent many an hour
happily exploring the Anglesey coastline.
