I'm not quite agree with your comparison, the Contax 50 is a 1.4 not
1.2, you should compare Nikon 50/1.4AF or Minolta 50/1.4AF, their
price are around $250. The Contax 24-85 is a 3.5-4.5 not 2.8, you
should compare the same lens from Minolta or Canon, their price are
below $300.

Yes, they only make at a very low volume, the price must be high. But
with other camera manufacturers that offer at much much lower price,
it just hard to accept. Similar to OM, very few people have that money
for the 50/1.2 and 35-80/2.8, fortunately we have other cheaper choice
but N-1 system does not.
