When the switch of the OM 2 is in the off position, the longest exposure time 
is 
limited to a 1/30 th. second. This is to prevent you to take too long photos 
from
the inside of your bag, for Battery reasons. This is what I`ve heard about. 
never 
prooved, but makes sense.
