I think that you should be tempted by the idea but the specimen on offer sounds quite expensive. I bought one a few weeks ago and am still checking it out. So far, I have not had any problems with the pictures obtained even though there is a significant mark on the rear element - I paid a local dealer less than half the price you quote. I am using the 500mm with an OM2SP and it is certainly quite awkward physically adjusting the manual exposure dial (especially to and from the B setting) when the lens is mounted because of the position of some of the lens parts. Obviously, with an f8 aperture there are potential problems with exposure time with normal (? eg ASA 200) film speeds at this time of year in latitudes like England and even with a 2-13 screen I am struggling to focus except in the brightest winter sunlight. In summary, I like the lens but I do not think that I would pay that price except with a definite need in mind. I will report again when I have had the current film developed, and I am also planning to try the lens out with some ASA 400 film shortly. Perhaps I should say that, as a satisfied user, I upgraded from a Tamron 500 mm reflex when I got my Zuiko and the buyer of that lens (a list member) might like to comment on how he has found using that 500mm f8 reflex in an English winter?

Brian.
