In the not so recent past, some questions were raised about formulation
changes in the 50/1.4 "MC" lenses related to their serial numbers...
<snip>

1,05#,### Zuiko MC:
Through the front element, it clearly shows green and purplish
reflections from a number of groups. Through the rear element, it shows
the same type of reflections as through the front element.

1,11#,### Zuiko:
Through the front element, it clearly shows green and purplish
reflections from a number of groups. Through the rear element, it shows
the same type of reflections as the front element.

4. Whether a lens is marked "Zuiko MC" or "Zuiko" (but _not_ "G.Zuiko")
is
not a reliable test for determining its formulation. A serial number of
1,000,000 or higher, not 1,100,000 or higher, is more reliable in
finding
the newer multi-coating formulation lenses as it is now apparent there
are
some with S/N over 1,000,000, but under 1,100,000, with "Zuiko MC"
markings.

Another validating data point. One of my two Zuiko 50mm 1.4's has
serial 1,089,xxx. It's marked MC and shows equal front and rear green
and purplish reflections the same as John has specified for his
1,05x,xxx.
