I suppose that the best way to find a cutoff point
would be to use your camera until it has a failure. At
that point, take out the battery cell and at say 1
second (or 5 seconds, or whatever) after placing a
load on it (Tim suggests 7500 ohms) note the voltage
on your multimeter.

Do the same thing with a fresh cell, just to get an
idea of what your best case is.

With these two reference points in mind, you can apply
the same test to your other used battery cells, and
hopefully make a judgement as to how much life they
have in them.

Or, you can buy a cheap battery tester, and test that
cell on the setting for AA batteries, which should
draw a pretty good current. Mark where the needle
falls after 1 second. Do that with the fresh cell and
the freshly failed cell. That should give you a
'window'.

If all this sounds like too much trouble, just buy a
bunch of new silver cells and replace them on a
regular basis. You should be able to find them for not
too much more than a dollar a piece in bulk - not much
expense for a few months shooting (in the worst case).
