Hi Rand E:

<< 1. What is the best way for him to make payment in USD ? >>

Billpoint. Some will say PayPal, but you have no acceptable proof of
payment for USPS insurance purposes that way.

<< 2. What is the best way for me to ship the item to him ? >>

Express Mail. Not Air Mail Parcel Post to Sweden, unless you want a 30+
day delay, like I recently encountered. If it is a quite expensive item,
Swedish Revenue agents might even hold it up for a response from the
address because they question how it can be so expensive. Again, it's
happened to me when I insured a parcel for full, current market value.

<< 3. What is the best way to minimize undesirable effects of tariffs
? >>

Specifically regarding Sweden: you probably won't! It will run about 24%
(20%?) of declared value. Insure for a valuation as low as you can stand
if lost. That valuation is also what you declare. The only other
alternative is ship it Air Mail Letter Rate uninsured and rely on it
being covered under your personal articles (Inland Marine) insurance or
homeowner's/renter's (if you don't use/sell cameras professionally). I
have my doubts it will be covered, but I'm meeting with my insurance
agent on Monday to get clarification on this approach.

Another creative approach on international shipments is to trade. If one
or both parties gets hit with import duties/taxes, you split the cost.
