Hi,

Has anybody on this list actually seen, owned or used a Zuiko 1000/f11? At 4150g (9lbs 2oz) and 662mm (26") with a 100mm filter,

A bit of a late reply (I didn't check any e-mail during the weekend), but yes, I have! Jaap Korten (the owner of Wide Angle) has two of them, and he let me handle one of them (along with a 250/2, an 8/2.8, a 16/3.5, and a 21/2 - all of which are veeeeery nice lenses!). The size and weight of the lens is impressive, at f11, you can imagine the viewfinder image to be rather dark too (I believe Jaap had a 1-4 screen in the camera he had attached to it). The rack and pinion focusing mechanism is a bit odd, but I guess matters would be worse if the lens would actually use helicoid focusing. Unfortunately there wasn't a whole lot of interesting things to be seen out front of the Wide Angle store, but still it was interesting to handle the lens. I would guess the "kinda similarish" 600/6.5 is much nicer...

my next question would be WHY?

Well, easy, _because I could_ ;)
Really, I just wanted to know what it would be like to use that lens, so I asked if I could play a bit with it :)

Cheers!
Olafo
