I don't see what all the fuss is about sniping. I don't often go to them,
but at a real-life auction there are always people who jump in at the last
second and bid. I've never seen *anyone* go over a punch a last-second
bidder in the nose and exclaim, "You can't do that! You didn't bid
earleir!" (But, I must confess, that'd be pretty entertaining if it *did*
happen!)

I find it amusing when someone says, "If I'd known he was going to bid
that much I would've bid higher." Maybe e-Bay (and all other auctions
both real-life and virtual) should change their rules so that everyone
must announce in advance what they're maximum bid is going to be?
"I'm prepared to bid up to $200, but I'm going to start at $10." Of
course, if I then change my mind in the middle of the auction and bid
$210, the other participants should have every *right* to pound the sh*t
out of me (real-life auctions) or flame me (virtual ones)!

Buying something at auction (virtual or otherwise) is a game of cunning
and skill. It's SUPPOSED to be that way! Otherwise, stuff would have
price stickers on it and you'd simply pay the sticker price, take your
item, and leave.

If you don't know how to play the game, then you shouldn't get upset if
you "lose" because someone else does. If you don't like the rules of
the game, then DON'T play!

Just my humble opinion.

Regards,

Chris
(Who's won some and lost some by sniping, but that's the way it goes!)
