I guess the moral is - stick to original!  I think I found a couple Olympus 
eyecups.  I'll try not to lose those!!

The cups OlyGuy sells are NOT OEM and fit loosely. These are the ones with the 
extra rubber on one side to fit your eye orbit. I had precisely the same thing 
happen to me. I bought 2 eyecups from the OlyGuy and put them on my OM4t and 
Om-1 for a weekend outing on the Durango Narrow Gauge Railroad. In the process 
of getting on and off the train a dozen times, I lost both of them. I had a 
Eyecup2 with me that I used thereafter and never had a problem. I've given up 
on those generic cups.
