There are places in the Firehole and Madison and perhaps Gibbon rivers where
the hot springs bubble directly into the river. These are called hot pots
and are very popular places in the evenings. Of course nudity is preferred.
The water would be warm tonight but the air is not. It is -33F in West
Yellowstone right now and getting colder.

Some young park employees accidentally jumped into a hot pool by mistake
last summer and were very badly burned. The girl died and the two boys were
nearly killed. They are still in the burn center in Salt Lake City I think.
The water in that pool was 175F. It pays to know where your going,
especially in the dark. /jnm
