Thanks for the advice Rich. Unfortunately, my RAM must be 5v EDO 168
pin in 2 chunks of 64MB - cost about £200 each. I have an old
PowerMac you see... but if you know a better price, I should be glad
to hear good news ;-).

Double that RAM if you can, Chris. You will see an immediate and noticable
improvement in performance, most all the time, for everything you do on your
computer, not just working with your scanner. Best $69 I spent on my
computer. RAM is relatively cheap right now, and on sale darn near all the
time.
