While they are hard to find, Sigma did make a 500/4.5 APO in the OM mount.
A very nice lens.  About the same size as my Tamron 400/4, although the
Tamron is probably the better lens.  Got mine in mint condition for about
$1600, which is very reasonable (but not quite a Doris) compared to the
prices of used Tamron 400/4's.  I believe they sold new for about $3200 but
are now only available in AF versions as far as I know.
