They finally put a statue of FDR in his wheelchair at the FDR Memorial next
to the Tidal Basin on the Mall in DC. It was a struggle by many groups to get
that done....

Indeed it was, and more of a struggle to get him shown in the chair. You
have to remember, of course, that FDR refused to appear in public in a
wheelchair. He stood at podiums when making public speeches, walked with
the help of canes or an aide (plus massive leg braces) and insisted that
photographs be composed so as not to reveal his withered legs.

All of that rather complicated the monolithic media's job in getting the
"real" story about FDR to the public.
