The lever sits in the little round collar that you see from the outside.
That collar is held in by a threaded ring which is on the underside of
the top cover.  The collar has quite a bit of play so you should be able
to position it by gently turning the retaining ring.  To turn the ring
you'll need a proper spanner wrench, don't bother trying if you don't have
one, the ring is in very tight.
