EBV photofloods are 3,400K, but that is only balanced for Kodachrome 40.
Those are the lamps which "require" the 80B filter when used with
daylight film. ECT photofloods are by far more common and are balanced
at 3,200K, which is balanced for all other tungsten films, like Portra
100T, Fujichrome 64T Type II, etc. Those are the lamps "requiring" the
80A when used with daylight film. To the best of my recollection, 100
watt household lamps are 2,900K (maximum, perhaps a bit less).

lighting? Perhaps 100f the photos will be white or up to and including
zone 3 grayness. The remaining 90% will zone 4 and beyond in terms of
shades of gray. I am photographing inanimate objects and not people. I
do not want to spend an inordinate amount of time colour correcting in
the darkroom on account of not having an 80B filter. Should I hold off
until I can get an 80B or is the difference between the 80A and 80B
filtration not all that significant? >>

I shoot day in and day out under ECT photofloods. The Portra 100T
results are great. Try and use that film if you can. But I generally
don't use it, opting instead for 12 exposure rolls of Fujicolor Super HQ
100 or Kodak Gold 100. With either of the daylight films I use, day to
day processing variations will probably make minute filtration changes
an exercise in futility, unless you use a great lab.
