Mickey's point is well taken. The subject header should mean something
but it often doesn't, once the original topic of discussion has been
exhausted. If you try following threads in the archives, you'll nearly
always find that, after about three or four generations of messages,
the interesting content has faded away and the remaining messages are
just one-liners or have deviated too much from the subject. 

It used to be fairly common to see a subject line where the contributor
acknowledged the change of subject, such as: "[OM] Tobasco Sauce For
Cleaning CAT Lenses. Was: Why Won't My OM-4 Work Without Batteries?".
At least one could see that the thread had changed. I would find it
helpful if people could continue to use this method to show a change of
subject - or start an entirely new thread (even better).
