Dear John:

Is the OM 2S or 4T supposed to be superior at flash TTL control than older
models like the OM2n or OM 40/PC?

Hmmmm . . . I mentioned the OM-2S and OM-4 only because that's what I've used with the T-20 and T-32 in TTL Auto. I've never owned an OM-2 or OM-2n so there's no experience with how well they control flash exposure.

TTL-Auto has proven better than the Normal-Auto using the flash sensor. I sometimes use the 85/2 or the 35-105 zoomed out. The flash sensor has a much wider angle of view under these conditions and in Normal-Auto will quench when what's in its angle of view provides sufficient reflectance; not what you're seeing through the viewfinder. With TTL-Auto, it only measures what comes through the lens. It is easier to "fool" a T-series in Normal Auto than in TTL-Auto, but for me occurrance has been rare. It hasn't happened to me often enough to justify the additional work required to set exposure using a flash meter or guide numbers.
