If the body has the more recessed eyepiece glass then it is a newer type
body that someone switched tops covers on.

| My 2 cents:
| I believe this is a body that matches much of what Mark describes.
Curious
| that the viewfinder is so deep into the body for an "early" OM-1. All the
| 1's I have seen that are truly OLD, have the viewfinder very close to the
| back, less than 1/16". That was quite annoying to many users, ones
without
| glasses constantly getting the viewfinder greasy, users with glasses
getting
| false readings when there was any backlight through the finder.
|
| Mark, I don't recall the # of the 1 you bought from me, but it seems
pretty
| close.
|
| No original 1's, to my knowledge that were "MD'd" by Olympus received the
MD
| tag. They were simply upgraded for a cost of $50, if I remember correctly.
| As I remember, the one's that received post-manufacture MD also received
new
| bottom plates.
|
| My guess is that this is a rather late OM-1 that came as an MD model and
| someone has moved the tag. If it is an MD model, then it isn't old
compared
| to "what could be".
