DOS was primitive for a 16 bit OS. It got even more primitive when Microsoft
started developing it. What Microsoft bought from Seattle Software was
Concurrent CP/M by Digital Research. Seattle Software had modified it for
the 8086 microprocessor. Concurrent CP/M was a multi tasking OS, that
Microsoft stripped the multi tasking code out of because they couldn't deal
with it.
