Eastman Kodak is suing three of its digital camera rivals, claiming that their
models infringe on a number of its patents.
Rochester, N.Y.-based Kodak has filed suit against Sanyo, Agfa-Gevaert and
Seiko Epson, claiming that they use a number of Kodak's patented technologies,
including a technique for reducing red eye, which plagues digital and
traditional photographers alike.

They mention the patent-swap deal with Olympus. An EK was involved in a stock
buy-back program until they suspended it in order to have cash for
acquisitions. They're feeling pretty good financially, it seems.
This reminds me of when AT&T [pre LU split] went around in '94 to everyone who
made modems threatening them with lawsuits because they hadn't licensed the
9600baud modem patent from them...lots of patent cross-licensing going on
behind that.
EK believes they have in excess of one thousand patents that apply to digital
photography...
