[OM] Oil on aperature blades!!!!

Subject: [OM] Oil on aperature blades!!!!

I was going over my lenses last night (still trying to figure out what I'm
taking on my backpacking trip - and what I'm going to carry it all in), and
I noticed -- oil on the aperture blades of my 135/2.8 !!!. I also noticed a
little sluggishness in aperture operation. It seems to me that there was no
oil on the blades the last time I played with this lens only a week or two
ago.

As far as the aperture sluggishness, it seems to me that the way OM lenses
work (normally open, stop down driven directly?) that it can't be a real
issue in photographs. Or can it?

Can anyone tell me how this happened, what (if anything) to do to fix it,
and what it means practically (aside from the already noticed sluggishness)?
I have to confess that I've had this lens for probably 24 years, and have
used it very little in this time, so aside from carrying it all over with
me, it should be in good shape.

BTW, thanks everyone for all the recommendations for a backpacking kit and
ways to carry it. When I've finally sorted out what I'm doing, I will report
back to the group.

Thanks,

Mike
