Yes, I thought that too, but being no battery expert I figured there had to be 
some hidden gotcha in using smaller batteries even if they are rated at higher 
capacity. Perhaps you could experiment and report the results some day. A paper 
presented at the next meeting of ZA, maybe? All this talk of different chemical 
formulas, internal resistance, and fast charge-ability is beginning to make my 
head spin, though. Whatever happened to, "it takes four AA batteries (not 
included)?*

Actually, on the same page, in the AP brand, they have 1/3 AAA cells that
are even smaller but 150mah.  Could be interested, as you might be able to
squeeze in an extra cell. Clearly the voltage wouldn't be a problem, as the
M.18V is, by definition, 18v.

N110AA @ .24oz * 12 = 2.88 oz
N225AA @ .38oz * 12 = 4.56 oz
AP150AAAH @ .136 oz * 13 = 1.768 oz

I'm going to have to experiment.
