Yes Winsor, you're right, it takes 49mm filters, but as others have pointed
out, there is a second, outer thread for the screw-in, 55mm hood. If you
can't find this uncommon hood, the best bet, also as someone else pointed
out, is to get another maker's hood from the camera store junk bin.

My Olympus publication says that the 28-48 has a 49mm filter size. Does
the hood not use the filter ring?
