It is definitely more difficult, although not impossible.  I wonder
if it is caused by the combination of focussing range of the lens and
lower angles on the screen's surface.  By the latter I mean: is the
screen not brighter because it is less likely to black out in lower
light.... therefore the payback is less definition when focussing?

I am grateful that you pointed it out as I shall now be more careful
with focussing.

Another interesting thing about this lens: it doesn't work well with a
2-4 screen. That is what I was observing in my post yesterday. It much
easier to focus (albeit still with some difficulty) using a 1-13
screen.  It's not the first lens that a 2-4 screen failed with - I've
listed other on the lens test page.

At the 35mm setting, the image looks sharp on a 2-4 screen at ANY
distance, even through a Varimagnifinder. Pretty wierd.
