Agreed.  I'm a survivor of FTP'ing and the versioning tools in word
processors, which aren't well know to most users. Big efforts eventally
overrun FTP space allocations and word processor versioning usually
isn't too useful past the point of a handful of authors, esp. when you
have one or more who don't understand the tools. Thomas, it's good to
know we have someone who has covered this ground before.

most - if not all? - in academia have some publishing experience, even
from this type of projects (multi-author, sectioned books). The

though, is: do anyone have editorial experience....? >>

14 major technical reports, many multi-volume and (at least) 12
published articles (magazines and journals). But, no, I wasn't on the
editorial boards of any publications or publishers.  Good distinction.
I went into consulting in 1989 because I liked to coordinate team
efforts among specialists and maintain high standards of truth and
accuracy to what we were publishing.
