Cut a small leather disc or ellipse - just under half inch (1cm) - punch a
hole in the middle and put it over the lug. Then put the split ring through
the lug and attach the strap. With cameras where the lug is close to the
top edge, this works perfectly. For cameras with a lower lug, make the
patch longer and attach to the strap with a dot of glue. Some third part
straps already have this approach.
