P.S. I think a few respondents missed the fact that you were reporting a
non-Olympus camera as being declared beyond economic repair. And you are
thinking of going non-Olympus? Doesn't that tell you something?

Good one, Gary.

I bought a Canon F1n, the last all mechanical, non auto exposure professional level camera, and suffered with it for two years before I had enough and bought my Olympus OM4TBlack which had just come out. It would be interesting to call Canon and ask whether this model would be repaired by them. I doubt it. Oly will still work on the OM4T.

It is also interesting that although this model was replaced in the model line up shortly after I got it, compared with the Oly 4 some version of which had been out several years, it had a delicate(broken by a minor bump that did not leave a mark on the camera) mechanical match needle exposure meter movement with a center weighted sensitivity(not a spot), made a horrible, loud clacking noise when the mirror returned(normal), no TTL flash, weighed about 2 pounds before mounting the lens and still used a mercury battery. It was also during this era that many of the new Canon lenses for it were being replaced with lenses with plastic mounts. I bought it because someone whose photos I admired used one. One of those mistakes you learn from.
