No, weird is too mild Winsor. It is a cynical manipulation of the market.

As Keith Berry ranted some years ago, Europe is a market which is
used to paying more for goods in general; but recent studies have
shown that, particularly in photographic goods, we in GB pay more
than our Continental neighbours. In the jargon, Olympus is pricing
to "what the market will stand", whereas Mamiya have probably failed
to do their market research... unless they are trying to undercut
their competitors of course.

And to make things worse, I found out some weeks ago that Robert
White, one of the more expensive retailers in the UK, sells MF stuff
cheaply to the US.

... with apologies to Monty Python and the Life of Brian, "what has
the EU ever done for us?"

:>).

Chris

That is for a new lens. Fortunately, used lenses cost much less.

It is often cheaper to buy new Olympus equipment from the USA and pay
shipping, import duty, VAT (sales tax) and the Post Office handling charge
than to buy new in the UK.

It is too weird with the differences. Olympus is much more
expensive in England, but Mamiya is much more expensive in the US.
Is it due to the importing organizations?
