Hallo Rainer

Oly's B-300 1.7X teleconverter is without question the best solution if you 
want to extend the tele
range of the iS-3 / iS-3000. Picture quality with this combo is very good. It 
is designed to be used
at the extreme 180 mm position, but you could of course also use the vignetting 
that occurs if used
at a shorter tele position for occasional creative effects. The optional 
quality of Oly's iS/L
converters is very high, and they should not be compared to ordinary cheaply 
built video converters.
A bonus effect is that they only have a marginal effect on the lens speed. 
Frontmounted converters
are built according to the "Galileo telescope" principle, and they mainly 
affect the close focus.
