Dear List,
I recently bought an OM2n and used it with a Motor Drive 2 that I had for
some time and worked perfectly with my OM4Ti and OM1. I was surprised when
yesterday after working properly for some time has begun to malfunction. The
symptoms are:
1. The Motor Drive 2 advances 2 or more frames even when set on single
INTERMITTENTLY. So that it will advance properly for some random number of
frames. Then it will advance double or triple etc depending on how quickly I
can release the button.
a. I have powered the Motor Drive from a 15V NiCad and M18V grip and the
same thing happens despite being set on SINGLE.
b. I tried the Motor Drive on another OM2. Same thing happens.
2. Also sometimes the drive releases the shutter and winds, then fires the
shutter the second time and then only partially advances the film! So that I
have to advance with the advance lever.
I initially thought that the power sources both may be faulty... so I
borrowed a MINT Motor Drive 2 and powered them with the same sources and the
same problem occurs!
I am unsure where the problem is... I believe the fact that a MINT motor
drive did the same thing with both these cameras and with the power supplies
means the problem is with either:
A> The power sources are faulty... and delivering sequence pulses to the
drive. I dont know the electronics of this so I can't be sure.
B> Both my cameras are faulty... although I find this unlikely. I am unable
to test them on my OM 1 and OM 4 Ti at the moment as I have left them in
Melbourne.
Has anyone got any ideas on where the problem may be?
