Depending on when you were last here, expect to see some big changes.
Gentrification of suburbs such as Paddington, Balmain, Newtown is well
advanced, with other parts of the inner west moving that way too.
Photographically there are some interesting new(ish) structures such as
the Anzac bridge (aka Glebe island bridge) and the infamous Toaster
(aka
east circular quay development). Some of the many holes in the ground
from the collapsed building boom of the early 90s are still there, but
no doubt you have plenty of those at home! Oh, and I shouldn't forget
the Olympic venue at Homebush, which is no doubt spookily quiet
nowadays
(it was so packed at the time I hardly took any pictures outside the
events).
Let me know if you want any further suggestions of places to visit,
restaurants to eat at, camera shops to visit, good film labs etc.

Dylan,

Thanks for that. I'm really looking forward to updating myself on
Sydney. I realise there have been a heck of a lot of developments since
the last time I was there. I'll be going in a week's time and staying
for about 10 days. I haven't decided where I'll be staying yet,
somewhere in the Rocks/Circular Quay area probably, but I'd really like
to meet up with any members of this list in Sydney. Anyone interested
please contact me off list.

My main reason for not taking a zoom lens with me is that I'm on a
prime lens kick at the moment. It's just the way I feel and I daresay
it'll wear off but I really prefer primes right now. And thanks for the
kind offer of lending a body should my 2S conk out! I'll have my Minox
35GT with me, as well as my better half's Stylus Epic (Mju II) so, even
if I'm unlucky, I shouldn't be totally without a working camera. One
great thing is that I'll have a chance to buy some silver oxide
batteries while I'm there - can't seem to find any in Jakarta.

Regards,

=====
