I sincerely doubt it. The cron script referred to is only possible because
of Debian's package manager. Slackware's entire reason for continuing to
exist is that it is adamant about considering package management optional
and unnecessary for the base OS, and so automatically replacing parts of the
system is simply not possible.

AFAIC, Slackware is only for hardcore Linux weenies who don't mind totally
reinstalling their system when some tarball overwrites something critical
and makes it unusable. Anyone who's interested in a maintainable system
should be using one that uses package management throughout, like every
other major distribution.
