excellent! that is the answer I was looking for.  it seems that if I get a
spot meter attachment for my current light meter (that produces a 5 degree
circle) then this would be about the same as if I had the spot meter in the
camera w/ the wide angle lenses that I use (35 shift down to 18mm).

however, I still dream about a nice OM-4T and I guess this information will
only delay the inevitable! ;)

Another way of looking at this is the angle of view of the spot meter.
At about 180mm focal length I seem to recall the center circle on a 2
series screen equalled the area of my 1 degree spot meter.  I guess that
means 2 degrees angle of view at 90mm and 4 degrees at 45mm.
