I've found mine to be very useful too:-

On a bellows while waiting for my 50/3.5 to turn up - excellent results and
with a bit of extra working distance;

With a 50/1.8 reversed on it as a low power microscope; and

With an eyepiece adapter to make a handy telescope.

I like the integral hood - mine's an early SC chrome nose and I think the
double chrome rings look really smart.
