Hi Mike,

How ironic. When first I moved here to SoCal (1982) We had the problem of
all the "brown days," while all of you NW types boasted of the great air up
there. I lived in the Pomona valley less than 5 miles from the mountains and
you often couldn't see them.

As much as the AQMD's draconian regulations remain a pain in the butt (great
intentions; crummy, typically expensive bureaucratic implementation), you
can't argue with the results. Most days here are now very clear by
comparison with then.

I suspect y'all are victims of Seattle's success.

I've had less than satisfactory results with both haze and skylight filters.
Neither seem to make a significant dent in the stuff, if it's mostly smog
rather than mostly water-vapor haze. I'm gonna have to shoot some controlled
comparison shots next time we have a crummy air day.

What do you recommend for a haze filter? A polarizer is a bit too blue
and harsh. A warm polarizer or skylite tends to enhance the brownish
haze. What I want is a filter that zaps away the smog and returns the
skies to the way they were 25 years ago :>) Yeah, I know i'm dreaming
but short of that what is recommended?

Mike
