[OM] PX625 from Boots in the UK & Kanto adapters

I went to my local Boots this week-end and bought the famous £1.30 Braun
mercury cell which is in fact a Varta PX625 1.35V. The latest Varta-made
mercury cells were manufactured in late 1999 so it's safe to say that the
Boots batteries probably come from batches made at the time. This would also
indicate that they're good for a while yet.

In any case, my Pen FT has a working meter again. So thank you John.

On another note, I had a chat with somebody from Kanto CS in Japan which
products are sold by CrisCam in the US. I knew of the MR-9 that allows an
SR-44 to be used with an OM-1 and other cameras, but I discovered another
adapter I didn't know existed. It is called the HM-N and can be used with
all electronic shutter compacts made by Olympus which need a 640 battery to
operate such as the 35ED. They cost the same as the MR-9 and come in pairs.
Price is 2900 yen = £16 = $25.

For those of us in Europe who think that CrisCam is taking the p.... asking
for $25 shipping to Europe on top of the $25 for the MR-9 (how many $ per
gramme!), Kanto is in the process of finalising a distribution deal with a
company in Germany. I'll pass on the details as soon as I have them.
Unfortunately, Kanto themselves do not take Visa/Mastercard.

Finally, I have tried to find out if one of the larger Japanese photo
retailers / discounters from the Shinjuku area had these adapters for sale
online but I failed to find any. Then again, the fact that sites such as
Yodobashi Camera are all in Japanese doesn't help. If one of our Japanese
member can help on this, I for one would be grateful.
