Yes, you could do that but the danger is that the ambient light may spoil
the picture.

Uh, who said anything about multiple exposures? You just hold the shutter
open and let the multiple bursts come to you.

The OM1 does not have a multi exposure feature. It would be better to just
get a locking cable release, set shutter to 'B' with lens covered with a
black card, lock shutter open and take card away when firework goes up and
replace it when firework finishes, repeat as req. ( Tripod of course!)

There's no need to use fast film or worry about exposure times when shooting
fireworks. Each burst is essentially a flash exposure. Here's what you do:

1. Load ISO 100 film.
2. Set your aperture to 5.6 or 8.
3. Point your camera at the display.
4. Open the shutter for as many bursts as you want on a frame.

I'm going to try to get some pictures of the fireworks this weekend.
I'll probably use a 300/4.5 since I'm quite far away and ASA400 film.
Body suggestions would be helpful, I'm leaning toward the OM2 but have a
1, 2n and 2sp. I'm worried that the exposure will be too long because of
the black background and blur out the fireworks. Maybe I should use the
OM1 with the mirror locked and just do a bracket of exposures? What
exposure times are recommended? Any tips appreciated.
