Exactly right, Scott!  

Also when shooting fireworks and using print film, when you have the
film developed take it to a lab where you can talk to someone.  You need
to have your prints made to show the fireworks properly.  With cheapo
processing and the print machine left to
auto, it will try to turn that night sky into a medium gray and the
fireworks will be washed out.  Human intervention may be needed.
