Subject: [OM] OMs in Action

Hi all,

Been away on an assignment the past few weeks. While awaiting the birth of
my granddaughter last March in Edmonton, Alberta, my kid brother asked me
to shoot an old Canadian Forces Voodoo mounted on a stand outside the
Edmonton Aviation Heritage Society building. Unbeknownst to me he showed
the shots to the Airfest 2001 committee who selected one of my shots to
be used as their poster and on their program. They, of course, obtained the
necessary permissions and a few weeks later asked me to fly to Edmonton to
shoot the event for them (they paid, naturally). At the same time I managed
to line up several aviation related stories to shoot to make the whole
thing worthwhile.

The Airfest committee still has all the shots (12 rolls worth) so I
couldn't scan any. The first link below is to the brochure (same shot on
the poster) followed by a series of links to some air to air shots. Had the
opportunity to photograph the only flying Colonial Skimmer (an amphibious
aircraft) in Canada and one of only 5 still flying in the world. Was using
two bodies (one loaded with print film for the a/c owner) and the other
with chromes for the magazine (chromes are better but - no film scanner).
OM content - all Oly gear. Brochure shot was OM4 with Zuiko 85/2 SC. Air to
air were done with OM-2n and Vivitar Series 1 200/3 (an amazing lens) for
the prints. Chromes were shot with the OM4 and Zuiko 65-200 and Winder 2.

Garth & Chris O - didn't call 'cause I was at it from 7:30 AM the morning
after I arrived until 11:00 PM the night before my flight!

Gary E. - next time I am in Edmonton I will get a chance to fly and shoot
some soaring from a Grob motorglider - full oxy and they tell me they hit
29,000 feet at Cowley, AB regularly. Can't wait!!
Chris B - the RAF were kind enough to send a pair of Harriers down from
Cold Lake to put on display for the Airfest event - the boys put on a good
show for us - I'll post some images once I get them back.
