Thanks Mark.

Yes I am certain that this flash unit fired forwards. In fact it looked
really like a T-10, except fot the label on the back which read "T-8 Ring
Flash 2"!. All the fittings were black and the 49/55mm filter threads were
there too. Infact, it looked nothing like a T-8 at all really!

I did have a look at the brochures and saw that the real T-8 is a 'side
firing' unit (firing radially outwards, yes?) to bounce off one of two
'brushed' silver reflectors.

One thing the brochures don't really show is what the T-8 unit looks like
from the rear, whether it is black when viewed from the back, like the T-10,
or whether it has that silvery grey finish on the rear as it does at the
front.

My suspicion is that it could be T-10 mounted into/onto the 49/55mm filter
thread adaptor for a T-8 if that is possible! But I didn't want to try to
take it apart in the shop, break it, then hand it back to the manager and
say, "No thanks; I dont want it!"

I might try to get a photo of this mystery unit, but that may be a little
tricky.

Kind regards,

Dave Bellamy.
