The 35-70/4 (in my experience) is a nice lens. It is the size of the 3.6,
but closer to the weight of the 3.5-4.5. They come up pretty often and can
be had pretty cheaply, certainly under $100.
I don't own one, as I like the 3.5-4.5 better, but for a mid range zoom, it
is an ok lens.
Don't ever buy the 3.5-4.8 though.
