Welcome to the list.  My thoughts and experiences:  You will seldom go wrong
with a quality commercial lab like Holland or ColorPlace.  On the other
hand, you'll pay for their reliability.  I use ColorPlace for certain
things, like really big prints, infrared processing, or critical E-6.  But
most of my work is done by a family-owned one-hour lab. Y.K. and I know one
another on a first name basis (or, in his case, first initials) and I can
count on him for personal service and special requests, as well as constant
quality.  I return the favor with loyalty and I seldom actually ask for
one-hour turnaround.  So, my advice is to look for a small lab with an
on-site owner who can and will do quality work.  Cultivate a relationship
with that person so that he knows that you count on him/her.
