AIR DAMPER WEAR.

HiLIST,
as an ENGINEER, I have used AIR DAMPERS in various
sizes upto about 12" Diameter.
If the bore is ground or sized with a BALL, Hard
Chrome-plated and superfinished,
filled with silicon or better grease and using a TEFLON
SEAL,
this here AIR DAMPER should be good for a MILLION
cycles.
In other words, it should outlast the shutter
mechanism.
Some effect with Ambient Temperature will be there, as
the air expands and creates a higher pressure and
better damping and if it is cold the mirror slap should
be noisier.
BTW I manufacture HI-Speed STAMPING PRESSES running
upto 1200 strokes/minute.
This is definitely a little faster than the 5fps our OM
bodies run at.
I f you have further questions, just feel free to do
so.
Sometimes NITROGEN is used rather than air for better
characteristics as it is an inert gas.
