I can understand why you don't like this policy, but it is something I
openly tell everybody. Actually, I don't ask for positive feedback. I
simply say that I won't post feedback until it has been posted for me. The
reason I do this, which I clearly state as well, is that I'm new to selling,
my feedback rating is important to me, and that I hear of too many horror
stories of buyers regretting their purchase or getting bidding fever an
expect the condition of their purchase to coincide with the price they paid
rather than the stated condition.
The purpose of this tactic is not to boost my own feedback, but rather to
protect it and give myself some leverage once the item arrives. I've never
posted negative feedback for someone (although a couple have probably
deserved it, feared retaliation) and usually post feedback for someone once
the item has arrived and they are content.
Maybe this is wrong, but it makes sense, especially when reducing the
fear-factor is more important to getting a high bid price than just about
anything else.
